General Admission Requirements for Bachelor Degree

Application at the TU – Sofia is open to foreign students who hold a Secondary School Diploma, which allows them access to higher education institutions in the respective countries where they have completed their secondary education.

Required Documents

  • 1. Application form, containing some brief biographical data, exact address, telephone and the label of the applicant's desired specialty. The Application form can be downloaded in MS-Word format

  • 2. A copy of Passport.

  • 3. A copy of the Secondary School Diploma and its Supplement (s).

  • 4. A document, issued by competent authorities, which testifies to the right of the applicant to further his/her education at university level in the country where they have completed their secondary school education.

  • 5. A Medical Certificate of Health issued within a month prior to the application date and verified by the competent authorities in the country from which the applicant submits his/her file.

  • 6. Four recent passport-size photos.


  • Ranking of the candidates/applicants for students is based on their high school diploma scores in mathematics and physics or informatics, which should be no less than 62% of the maximum possible result according to the adopted evaluation system.

    Documents No 3, 4 and 5 must be officially translated into Bulgarian and legalized in accordance with the provisions contained in the intergovernmental agreements between the Republic of Bulgaria and the country in which these documents were issued, (or Apostille). If such agreements do not exist, the documents must be validated, translated and legalized, according to the standard procedure for legalization of official papers.


    They must be translated into Bulgarian language

    - by a person appointed by an order of the head of the diplomatic or consular representation of the Republic of Bulgaria abroad
    or
    - by a person working individually as translator or by translation companies and notarized by a Bulgarian notary.

Required level of proficiency in English:

  • FCE (First Certificate in English).
  • CAE (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English).
  • CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English).
  • IELTS (bands 6, 7, 8, 9).
  • PITMAN – Higher Intermediate – Advanced.
  • TOEFEL Paper, CBT, IBT (respectively with min. 550, 213 or 79 score).
  • PTE Academic (59 score minimum).
  • PTE General (third level minimum).

Applicants, who have some level of proficiency in English, sit an exam at university. Those, who will pass the language exam successfully, will be enrolled in the first year of study in their chosen degree course. In other case they have to attend 10 months preparatory language and specialized course in English or in Bulgarian depending on the language in which the specialties are provided.

Only original seals and stamps are accepted.

Submission of the required documents

All document, prepared in this way, must be sent scanned (both sides of each page PDF) attached to email: foreign.stud@tu-sofia.bg

The documents must also be submitted in one of the following ways:

  • Personally - at the Office of Foreign Students' Department at the TU - Sofia
  • By regisered mail to the following address:

  • Via authorized person (the authorized letter should be legally verified by the consular service of the Republic fo Bulgaria in the country of issue or with apostille).

  • Deadline for submission of documents: September 27, 2022
  • The academic year 2022/2023

General Admission Requirements for Master Degree

In order to begin the recognition procedure of the Bachelor degree the following documents are required:

  1. Application form, containing some brief biographical data and the label of the applicant's desired specialty.

  2. A copy of the Diploma for Bachelor degree and its Supplement(s), where the exact highest and lowest scores of university's assessment system are specified.

  3. A copy of the Secondary School Diploma and its Supplement(s)

  4. A Medical Certificate of Health issued within a month prior to the application date and verified by the competent authorities in the country fom which the applicant submits his/her file.

  5. A copy of passport

  6. A declaration of consent for verification of authenticity of documents №2

  7. Four recent passport-size photos

Documents No 2,3 and 4 must be officially translated into Bulgarian and legalized in accordance with the provisions contained in the intergovernmental agreements between the Republic of Bulgaria and the country in which these documents were issued, (or Apostille).
