The Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant is the only nuclear power plant in Bulgaria and the country’s largest electricity producer, playing a key role in national energy security and stability. The long-standing partnership between the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant and the Technical University of Sofia is aimed at training highly qualified engineers for the nuclear energy sector and developing the expertise necessary for the safe and reliable operation of nuclear facilities. This collaboration includes internship and scholarship programs, training for students and professionals, as well as opportunities for hands-on training at the training center and on the Kozloduy NPP site. A significant portion of the plant’s staff are graduates of the Technical University of Sofia, and specialists from the university actively participate in research and development, technical analyses, and the modernization and maintenance of the plant’s key systems and equipment. The two institutions also collaborate on topics related to long-term operation, aging management, the analysis of operational events, and improving the reliability and safety of nuclear facilities.
