Start of the academic year at 4 higher education institutions in Sofia

Three of the universities in the capital are opening the new academic year. These are the Medical University, the Technical University, and the National Academy of Arts. The opening at the Medical University will begin with a ceremony at 10:00. The ceremony, which will take place at the Medical-Biological Complex, will be attended only by first-year students. The rector, Acad. Lachezar Traykov, will open the year. Special guests will be the Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov, the Minister of Education Nikolay Denkov, and the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Sofia Doncho Barbalov. The Technical University in Sofia will open the year at the individual faculties with different ceremonies. They start between 9:00 and 11:00. The ceremony at the National Academy of Arts will begin at 11:00. It will take place in the courtyard space on Shipka Street. This is the 125th consecutive academic year of the higher education institution. The beginning will be marked with a festive blessing, a speech by the Rector Prof. Georgi Yankov, and the handing over of student records to first-year students. Rumen Radev will participate in the official opening of the new academic year at the University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski" in Sofia.
