The Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies was established in 1987 as one of the successors to the Faculty of Radio Electronics.
The mission of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies is to train highly qualified engineers in the fields of electronics and automotive electronics, who are competitive on both local and global labor markets and can meet the challenges of rapidly evolving technologies, while creating and implementing innovative engineering solutions.
The Faculty actively partners with corporate and government officials, conducts applied R&D, and fosters an environment for modern engineering education encompassing both traditional and cutting-edge fields of electronics.
One of the strategic goals is to establish the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies as Bulgaria’s leading institutions for electronics education by enhancing the overall quality of the educational process, expanding the range of educational services being offered, improving students’ opportunities for independent research, as well as broadening ties with foreign universities for the purpose of conducting joint programs and issuing joint degrees with institutions in EU countries and the Balkan region.
The educational process at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies is carried out across four departments:
• "Electronic Engineering" (established in 1962)
• "Power Electronics" (established in 1972)
• "Microelectronics" (established in 1982)
• "Chemistry" (established in 1976) – providing general education to all first-year students at Technical University of Sofia.
The departments of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies carry out teaching, research, and administrative activities to a specific discipline or a group of related disciplines.
Each department is led by an elected official who, together with the Department Council, organizes and coordinates its activities. The elected official is responsible for the effective management and use of the material and technical equipment, ensures and oversees the quality of the educational process, and supports the professional development of the academic staff, students, and administrative personnel.
The Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies conducts active scientific research, which has seen steady growth in recent years. The Faculty is the organizer of the
annual international conference "Electronics", held in Sozopol – an established scientific forum for researchers, academics, specialists, and students in the fields of electronics, microelectronics, and industrial engineering. Traditionally, the conference attracts leading scientists and researchers from around the world and is recognized by the
international Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) – a testament to its high scientific authority.
