Two new STEM labs also opened today under the “I Love My School” project.
The National Vocational High School of Computer Technologies and Systems in Pravets at Technical University of Sofia celebrated this year’s World Teachers’ Day with a completely transformed interior. Classrooms, halls, corridors, foyers, and staircases throughout the building now feature brand-new conceptual murals and wallpapers, created as part of the “I Love My School” project by the LightSource Charity. The project is a large-scale social and educational initiative aimed at transforming and modernizing the interior learning environments of Bulgarian schools and kindergartens. The organization donates interior design solutions and custom photo wallpapers and murals featuring inspirational quotes, thus transforming educational institutions into more welcoming and inspiring spaces for learning and development.
The conceptual wallpapers and murals at the Vocational High School of Computer Technologies and Systems are inspired by modern-day technology and programming. They aim to foster creative thinking, to nurture curiosity, to support the educational process, and to build a sense of belonging and motivation among the students.
The theme of the first floor – “I Learn and I Can!”, emphasizes confidence, knowledge, and personal growth. The colors and artwork aim to stimulate the students’ curiosity and self-esteem, reminding them that with tenacity and knowledge, they can achieve anything.
The theme of the second floor, “Innovations and the Digital World”, highlights the power of ideas and technological imagination. The conceptual murals and wallpapers depict charming robots, inspiring messages about creation and innovation, new programming languages, and the development of digital solutions. The artwork here aims to encourage the students to think outside the box, to experiment, and to dare to shape the future using imagination and knowledge.
Among the guests at today’s official opening of the renovated space were the Deputy Mayor of Pravets Municipality – Tanya Dimitrova, Prof. Rumen Trifonov – the school’s academic supervisor and Dean of Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies at TU-Sofia, as well as Albena and Arthur Spurling, together with their team.
The school’s principal, Nikolay Sirakov, presented a plaque of appreciation to the Spurling family, who have renovated over 100 educational institutions under this project over the course of 10 years. Two new STEM labs were also inaugurated at the school today.
The Vocational High School of Computer Technologies and Systems at TU-Sofia has yet another achievement to celebrate. The school was selected – one of only six approved out of 78 applicants nationwide – to participate in the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS). Our young talents will take part in several initiatives that will help them learn more about their rights as citizens of the European Union, as well as about the role of the European Parliament, and how parliamentary democracy works.
