The presence of official recognition, accreditation by a specialized state institution is a necessary condition for the legitimacy of any higher education school in the country. It ensures monitoring and control of the quality of educational, research, and artistic activities, the participation of academic staff and students in these activities, the maintenance, management, and development of the infrastructure, etc., throughout the entire accreditation period. Therefore, it is very important to us to achieve increasingly better results in our work.
Our university is one of the first to pass the pilot accreditation during the first phase of the project "Preliminary Study for Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria" (November 1996 – May 1997).
The first regular institutional accreditation , with a rating of "very good" , was received on 18.02.1999 for a period of five years. This was followed by institutional accreditation on 22.12.2005 for a period of six years, with a rating of "very good". The institutional accreditation for the period 14.06.2012 – 26.07.2018 received a score of 9.50, which is the highest score ever received by a higher education school in Bulgaria at the time.
The current institutional accreditation, from 05.12.2024, has a rating of 9.29 and a Level 4 (incomplete) designation for the distance learning environment, valid for a period of 6 years.
