Official recognition, specifically – accreditation by a specialized state authority, is a necessary condition for the legitimacy of any higher education institution in the country. Accreditation guarantees the monitoring and quality control of educational, research, and artistic activities; the faculty and students participation in such activities; the maintenance, management, and development of facilities and infrastructure throughout the accreditation period. That’s why it matters to us to continue our growth and achieve even better results in our educational and research work.
Technical University of Sofia is one of the first institutions to undergo the pilot accreditation during the implementation of the first phase of the project Preliminary Study on the Accreditation of Higher Education Schools in Bulgaria (November 1996 – May 1997).
The first regular institutional accreditation with a rating of “very good” is received on February 18, 1999, for a period of five years. It is followed by institutional accreditation from December 22, 2005, for a period of six years – again with a rating of “very good”. The institutional accreditation for the period June 14, 2012 – July 26, 2018 has a rating of 9.5 and is the highest one received so far by a higher educational institution in Bulgaria.
The current institutional accreditation, dated December 5, 2024, for a period of six years, has a rating of 9.29 and a Level 4 rating (partial) for the distance learning environment.
