The main goal of the specialization is to build the foundation of general engineering education in the field of transport, to train specialists with higher education for the needs of road and rail transport, for the technical operation and maintenance of technical means, for the implementation of combined and intermodal transport, for the introduction of leading methods for the organization and management of transport, for solving complex logistics problems, for researching and forecasting transport flows, for building a system of terminals and their equipment, and others. 

The application and admission to the specialty are regulated by the Regulation on Admission of Students to the Technical University of Sofia. A competition in mathematics and/or physics is provided.

The training in the specialty "Transport Technology and Management" (TTM) provides a broad fundamental education, including the study of mathematics, physics, chemistry, materials science, informatics, mechanics, etc. It also includes the study of a number of general engineering disciplines such as thermal engineering, control theory, machine elements, transport technology, internal combustion engines, transport systems, transport infrastructure, equipment and technologies for loading and unloading processes, communication and safety equipment, organization and management of traffic, etc. The training provides in-depth preparation in the field of road and rail transport. To develop practical skills, students obtain a license to drive motor vehicles and a license to manage traffic in rail transport.
