Over its fifty-year history, the faculty has earned a reputation as one of the largest and most prestigious faculties within Technical University of Sofia. Nowadays, the Faculty of Power Engineering and Power Machines is a leader in the training of highly qualified engineers in the fields of thermal engineering, thermal and nuclear power engineering, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources. It also trains specialists in the fields of hydraulics and pneumatics, as well as textile engineering. The faculty is also known for its significant role in the accelerated development of science and its practical application in Bulgaria. Three departments are part of the faculty: Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering, Thermal and Refrigeration Engineering, and Hydro-aerodynamics and Hydraulic Machines.
A total of 795 students are enrolled in the Faculty of Power Engineering and Power Machines across all educational and qualification levels. The degree programs offered by the faculty are broadly categorized into two fields: Power Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
