Faculty of Automatics is established in 1974 and is one of the largest faculties at Technical University of Sofia. Among the greatest advantages of the Faculty of Automatics are the solid fundamental education and the wide practical scope of the studied disciplines. Graduates successfully pursue careers in Bulgarian and international high-tech companies, where they take part in the development of innovative solutions for industry, business, and smart cities.
Faculty of Automatics comprises the following departments: Automation of Electric Drives, Automation of Continuous Production Processes, Information and Measurement Technology, Systems and Control, and Theoretical Electrical Engineering. Faculty members at the Faculty of Automatics teach students from 12, out of the total 16, main faculties at TU-Sofia in Bulgarian, English, German, and French. Training is conducted across 180 academic disciplines in 56 teaching and research laboratories.
Training at the Faculty of Automatics, for bachelor’s and master’s degrees, is carried out in the professional field "Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Automation" to obtain the professional qualification "Automation Engineer".
In bachelor’s programs, training is conducted in the following majors:
- "Automation, Information and Control Engineering"
- "Intelligent Systems in Industry, Home and City"
In the master's programs, training is conducted in the following majors:
- "Automation, Information and Control Engineering"
- "Embedded Control Systems"
A highly qualified and strongly motivated faculty trains students in the broad-based field of study "Automation, Information and Control Engineering" at both bachelor's and master's levels. It is among the four most sought-after majors in the country within the field of technical sciences and is accredited with a high rating by the Accreditation Council of the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency.
Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in the professional fields of “Electrical Engineering, Electronics, And Automation”, “Communication and Computer Engineering”, or “General Engineering” are eligible to apply for the master’s degree program in “Automation, Information and Control Engineering”.
Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in the field of “Technical Sciences”, as well as in the field of “Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Informatics” with majors in “Mathematics” and “Informatics and Computer Sciences” are eligible to apply for the master’s degree program in “Embedded Control Systems”.
Faculty of Automatics takes pride in its alumni and remain in touch with them. Graduates of the faculty, together with the academic staff, help improve the training of future engineers and the development of the laboratory facilities. They meet industry demands for scientific and technological solutions in the fields of automation and information technology.
Since 2012, as part of the "Science Days of TU-Sofia" forum in Sozopol, the Faculty of Automatics annually organizes and hosts the international scientific forum AUTOMATIKA. Research papers presented by participants at each conference are published in the "Yearbook of TU-Sofia" (ISSN 1311-0829).
